I recently got my Indian passport renewed at CGI SFO. Everything went smoothly. Here's some info for other people's benefit. My old passport expires in Sep 2008.
I printed out the online application form and applied by mail. Enclosed the following
Total Cost = $60 MO + $16 Fedex + $30 Notary = $106.
The Consulate received my application on June 16th and I received my new passport on July 1st. That's just 10 working days. I was impressed :cool:
I sent my PP to NY city last week. Had to send 4 PP pictures.
I always notarize my docs at the nearest Wachovia Branch FOR FREE :) Upto 5-6 pages in 1 trip. only once so far i had more than 5-6 pages and the lady looked unwilling to notarize (but didn't say).
This time i did not notarize the docs. not sure if that would be a problem.

Please post the PD distribution report in short.
Many companies blocks this type of shared docs hence can not be viewed till you go home and log in.
It's hard to get a good idea when so few people participate in the poll so I took the data available on and ran a few numbers.
I queried for EB3-ROW I485 pending applications (~700 applications) and copied/pasted the data to a spreadsheet: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pivQbtGMEqKxBgHVI0_y4IQ
Here's a report with a PD distribution chart so you get a better idea on where we stand:

IV may not be ditching EB3, but I cannot understand why IV is quiet about the new bill that that is introduced in the house and is referred to the judiciary committee. This bill may be a political drama, but there is no reason why we should not create awareness. I personally think if this gets media attention, this will do good than harm. Especially since the AZ immigration, DOJ lawsuit etc.. are in the news these days. This bill is for legal immigration and we should support it to the best we can.

For filing I 485 I know you need to submit birth certificate and marriage certificate. Do both of these have to be originals or copies are fine ?

I did contribute during Flower campaign and I spread the word around to make sure my friends contributed as well. I was only trying to help you guys who are anxious looking at their case status online.
Thanks for info. Now we at least know the application is being worked on though the status does not change.
On a lighter note though, you are now making people to look at one more place for GC, that is mail box, in addition to checking email, SMS, and online status :D.

Have you tried to reach the CIS via infopass? 'Aging out of children' is one of the extraordinary situations which can force the hands of CIS. It is on the USCIS guidelines. In your case, you can ALSO go to your congress members to look into this. Extraordinary situations require extraordinary responses. Good luck.

Do not panic. I have a very good experience with CGI Houston. So far I renewed four passports at different times. They take minimum six weeks to process the passports issued in India. The latest one I sent was reached them on September 24th and I got renewed passport on Nov 9th.

Well I really think this is reasonable suggestion to factor Priority Date to determine eligibility for citizenship. It could be 5 or 10 years past your priority and only after approval of green card. Currently many people wait for 8 to 10 years for green card and another 5 years to be eligible for citizenship and some lucky ones get green card in 2 to 3 years and citizenship in another 5 years. System should somehow be balanced to have close to uniform wait times towards citizenship for all.
Valid point. what ever it is, if you live in this country as a legal immigrant or non-immigrant for 10 years and paid taxes continuously for 10 years, automatically it should lead to Citizenship.

My PD is 09/01/2004. I have got an LUD on both the cases, but the status is still pending.

I am seeing several people contacting Congressman and opening service requests. These guys seem to have become current just this month and they do not have any patience. It is crazy in my opinion. As pointed out earlier there is lot of herd mentality on the forums and if one person posts, everyone else does the same. Some people I have seen on the forum call customer service every day to get case status. I urge people to read and try to understand the process than blindly following what others are doing. Secondly as posted earlier, tracking is also useless and a waste of time. It will not help you get your green card any faster. Have some patience and follow the process. Starting a service request as soon as your date gets current, cannot help you.

At this pace, it will take hundreds of years for EB3-I backlog to clear. This per country cap and new spill over process is killing EB3-I and there are no hopes.
We must do something. I wrote several letters to Local Senators, Ms Lofgren, Mr. President, Mr. Vice President but nobody offered any help for me.
Now I am ready for hunger strike. Anybody ?

But are you saying that both of my above strategies are valid? I remember reading somewhere that one cannot be in I-485 on two applications. Please clarify.

My wife and I will be travelling out of USA to our home country in the first week of August. My employer's attorney will be applying I-140 and I-485 for both of us before we leave the country. My attorney has said that we could travel out of country without jeopardizing the validity of I-485 application as long as it is recived by USCIS prior to leaving the country. Because of a large influx of I-485 applications, USCIS won't be able to issue the receipt notice immediately but will take weeks to issue the receipt nos. However, when they issue the recipt nos, they will use the application receipt date as the date when the application was physically received by them (the day when Fedex or UPS...courier service delivers the applications to them).
We will have to go to US consulate for H1B/H4 stamping and I am a little concerned if we would be able to get VISA stamping. I am in the 8th year of H1B extension? Both of us have I-797 approval notice for H1B/H4 valid until 2008. Has anyone travelled out of country and got the VISA stamps on the passport without any issues?
My attorney says there won't be any problems.

No forward movement in EB2 (I or C).
EB3 is "Unavailable" for all countries of chargebility.

Just cooking up stuff classifies as a multi national.I know a guy who is a business analyst on L1 visa got his GC in 6 months time in EB1 category by a well know consulting company stating him as a Manager..The guy was bragging and showing off his white card ,and telling how he got his GC in 6 months
