This is very interesting data. Pending 485s = 593937!! and number received in Feb = 38,663. To simplyfy assuming 600,000 pending and 38,000 new per month. Which means they get 456,000 apps per year. The total quota of Family + EB + Lottery + Refugee + Special = 226,000 + 140,000 + 55,000 + 90,000 + 10,000 = 521,000.
So if all green card apps were on equal footing and were always allocated it would take more than 9 years to clear the pending applications. But we all know that that is not the case so it might be 10, 12 or 15 years before the backlog is cleared and that would the best case scenario. This means retrogression will only get worse.

After reading the post on this thread, I am sure I must have fumbled something.:confused: Please read and advice
1. My wife came here (USA) on H4 visa in Dec 2005, got 1 year.
2. Applied for H1b in May 2006
3. Applied for H4 visa renewal in June 2006
4. H1B got approved Sept 25th
5. H4 got approved Oct 21th 06
6. Applied for SSN Jan 1st 2007.
7. Since SSN#, she is working

you may want consult good lawyer, as far as I know if H4 gets approved after your H1b approval you will loose your H1b and your back on H4. I don't want to scare you but want to make you aware of the situation, don't even think of going for visa stamping before you find out all the details. No one knows dick about PD movement. EB3 filers think that somehow EB2 PD gets stuck or even retrogress and EB3 PDs race forward to 2003/2004, through some delusional logic. Those who filed under EB2 think, EB2 PD moves to 2005/2006. These predictions are mostly prejudicial. USCIS may have some idea after entering all June/July/Aug applications, that is if they can find someone who can add :D.

your anguish is so very legitimate. i, for one, feel truly bad for you.
you deserved relief and nothing has come so far.
there is no harm in venting your frustration on a thread, i don't think anyone can blame you for feeling screwed.
but peace friends, iv's fight is not over by a long shot. we stand together for relief for all- including you. i hope that BEC releases the approvals quickly, and you guys will certainly be current. in fact you will have GC long before many filing 485's now.
let's keep working, keep lobbying, keeping fighting the good fight and please don't despair. we are all with you.

everybody is assuming tha CIR will have a chance in 2011.........that is based off the assumption that Dems will still have the house and senate after 2010.....

I am still waiting on my GC and hopeful it should go through this month.

I applied to my passport renewal in Jan 09 got back the renewed passport in march 2009.
I checked the passport and on my new passport the old passport number was wrong.
I went personally there and they put a observation in my passport as (the old passport number should be read as xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
The observation is hand written and has no signature or stamp on it. I talked to the lady there and she said this is fine and lawful.
Can any one shed any light, if that can be a problem to me while travelling??
BTW - old passport was mentioned wrong becuase I did a typing error while filling online application. When I went there they corrected the ew passport and gave me within 1 hour. So in that way they were helpful.

SFO took exactly 5 business days, incl. the day they received and the day they dispatched.
sent by mail.
only 2 photos needed.
notarized only the cover letter and affidavit to add spouse's name.
their website is perfect. don't need to read/talk to anything/one else.

I am completely opposed to non-GC holders buying a house. Tell me something - tomorrow I get out of status and can't find a job for 6 months and finally decide to leave, you think I am a fool to use up all my savings to disburse loans??? Its unthinkable. 6 months without a job is not far-fetched, I know several folks who were in the this situation. Without an employer my immigration status would be invalid. EAD/H1-B is not GC. Either you are a gc holder or you aren't.
Buying house is optional, paying off the mortgage is NOT.
I would buy if my family had dual incomes, we had our permanent resident status, long term plans to live in the US, income to house ratio was right (1:3 or something reasonable not 1:7 as it was/is with most middle class folks in the Bay area) and so on.
