I wanted to renew my passport and i went in person to CGI Houston office . CGI Houston will re-issue passport the same day afternoon for additional $150 ( on top of $40 for processing fee ) . I was informed that i can pickup my new passport the next week if i opt for normal processing but I just asked them to mail my passport instead and i received it within 10 days .

"Also the EB queue needs to be considered while moving to the skill based one" - I don't know what you meant by this line but I am in no mood to restart my GC application (for which I have been waiting for the past 9 years) just because some genius (whoever that person was) woke up one morning and decided that all the applications need to be reformed into a points based system.
Of course we are all in the EB queues. I don't want to discuss details of any campaigns in the public forum. You could volunteer for this too and suggest your ideas to 'StarSun' and clear your doubts.

Finally Greened. It's an amazing feeling.
Just checked my MAIL (Saturday) and it had my approval mail as well as Physical Card. Strangely both came in together.
Thanks to IV, I am not a donor but time and again I keeping making one time donations. This forum provides so much knowledge that money support is the most trivial thing that one can do.
Few more notes that might help other folks who are current in May and waiting to be Green
First I have email and mobile alert on for my 485 but got none and the status on my portfolio still says Request for Evidence Response View. Last LUD is still Aug, 2010.
Second I had an RFE in Apr 2009, General RFE asking for work details from my employer.
Got FP just once.

I was anxiously waiting but didn't opened any SR or contacted congressmen. I was planning to do that next week.
By the way I am still waiting for my spouse's GC.
I added my spouse on my application in 2008 (last quater when dates touched Aug 1,2006 before retrogressing)
I am going to party this weekend for my GC and next weekend for my spouse's :-) Only advantage of not getting both GC's at same time.
Congratulations to all that got their GC this May & Good Luck to all those who are current in May and will become current next month.

I thought, 15000 members was a small goal. But I guess we have to start with even smaller goals. I agree with Amit.
There's too much at stake to give up this campaign. Without membership, we are a weak bunch. To fight organized campaigns by groups such as Numbersusa we need the member strength.
Let us aim for 8000 members by Jan 15th. Current membership stands at 7919. We need just 80 members to reach the 8000 mark. If 10% of the current membership brings ONE member by Jan 15th, we can easily reach that target. With 300000 immigrants in this kind of quagmire, cant we get 80 people? I believe we can.
Let's join hands one more time and try to Add just ONE member by Jan15th. It is for our own sakes we will be doing it, so let's do it!!!

dont expect any replies...nobody is going to pick up your call...even if u get someone, they wont be able to provide with any useful information...the emails/fax will be unanswered...and the voice mail box will be full...only option is to look upwards to the sky and pray for ur passport...i got my passport after 7 weeks.

I was running free ads for IV on all my sites (and am still running them on iBookDB) and if you look through my past posts you will see that I was encouraging everyone to do the same. But now I want to contribute money but I don't know what I am contributing towards.

On the other hand you are trying to promote your website on IV so that people come to the site. I see that IV has deleted that ad. I did a google search and did not see any IV ad you talked about. So stop claiming. I will not put the url of your site in my post but if you are true, then send me a PM with a URL of the page where you claim to have put IV ad.

Got the PERM labor by 13 months. Applied on Dec 2005 got it now. Mine is EB2
I know EB2 is much slower than EB3 from what I have heard. Hence i was wondering how many ppl on EB3 have done their PERM recently?

In this thread we have more than 60 people willing to help to get this issue resolved. We can put a vote and see how much we can collect for this cause. I am willing to contribute $100 especially for this issue lobbying beside my monthly contribution which is a general contribution. I do not see much of initiation or participation of seniors or Admin in this issue(They are working on a bigger issues). We need to take a lead and see if we can get any help from people like Ron even if it involves a fee.

Your daughter will NOT aged out. We filed 485 and 140 1 mo before our son 21-st birthday, got GC 3 years later.
What was your PD ,and wating time for I-140.(ie I-140 applied and approved date.)

I am currently working on H1B. My wife is currently in India with approved I797 for H1B (starting Oct 07). We are debating whether to get H1 or H4 stamped on passport. (H4 is totally our decision and for H1 we need to depend on her company's schedule).
- Can she come to the US on H4 (lets say next month) and if and when she finds a job (lets say next year), can she switch to H1? Is there a time limit before H1 will become invalid?
- If she comes to the US on H4, are there any issues changing status to H1?
- Are there issues when she goes to India again to get H1 stamped?
- Is there a difference between the I797 approval notice if a person is out of US vs. in US? (I have read something about I-94. I thought I-94 is always attached to 797 approval notice).
